SEA ya later, Cleveland!
Today we departed Hawken’s Lyndhurst campus at 3:15 AM. After a long trip
through pre-check fueled by bagels we made our way to the Atlanta airport. It
is now 2:52 PM as we sit in the Nassau Airport, full of Wendy’s Frosties, and
write this blog post, only a short plane ride from our final destination of Rock
Sound airport on Eleuthra. Just a little tired…
Blue as far as they eye can see |
meanwhile inside the plane... |
But, after a day of traveling we couldn't be more excited to finally arrive at the Island School!
Josh is excited! |
Mr. Cawley is maybe a little bit too excited... |
We arrived at
Cape Eleuthra Institute/The Island School around dinner time and were promptly
given room assignments. Then it was dinner time! Across a pond of mangroves,
over a bridge, and through the palms was the cafeteria where we ate a feast of
ribs, rice, and broccoli (veggie meatballs too!).
And not only were
we greeted with food but hundreds of Bat Moths who flew around during dinner and
the rest of the night!
There are hundreds of these moths everywhere! |
To conclude the day, we attempted to make phone calls home, but the phone lines were knocked out due to a storm. So, we are going to keep trying, but if all else fails we'll call tomorrow (we miss and love all of you back home!).
Hope you're staying warm back home,
Claire and Quinn
So glad you all made it safely! Keep the puns coming.
ReplyDeleteYay! I’ve been thinking about you guys! See, the bat moths aren’t so bad, right? Enjoy your first AMX!
